The renovation of Margrethegården in Ringsted

Knudsen Kilen supplied blocks to increase heights in the renovation of Margrethegården, built in 1954, in Ringsted.

The renovation commenced in 2018 and was completed in 2022. During it, 117 public rental housing units were modernised and underwent comprehensive rejuvenation. In addition, 18 new accessible housing units and 13 new penthouse flats were built, totalling 8,000 m2.

The project used Knudsen Kilen’s Combi Top wedges to increase the height by 27-87 mm, useful specifically in renovation projects where the space beneath the floors is narrow.

To eliminate previous issues with noise travelling through the floors, the building owner opted for Knudsen Kilen’s step sound bricks and carried out step sound tests before and after, in one of the apartments. The tests were carried out by VM Acoustics and showed an improvement of 11 dB, going from 63 dB to 52 dB.

The apartments in Margrethegården are now in compliance with the law requirement for new buildings of a maximum of 53 dB, and the residents can enjoy a healthier, more comfortable indoor environment.
